Cranium
latin: Cranium
common: Skull

(Skull and cranium is not exactly the same. The skull consists of the cranium and the jaw bone.)
The adult human skull is normally made up of 22 bones. The names of these bones are:
- (1x) the ethmoid bone
- (1x) the frontal bone
- (2x) the lacrimal bones
- (1x) the jaw bone
- (2x) the maxilla bones
- (2x) the nasal bones
- (2x) the nasal concha
- (1x) the occipital bone
- (2x) the palatine bones
- (2x) the parietal bones
- (1x) the sphenoid bone
- (2x) the temporal bones
- (1x) the vomer bone
- (2x) the cheek bones
Most of the bones in the skull are available twice, once left and once right. You can see which bones these are in the above list. The Mandible bone is connected to the rest of the skull by joints. All the other bones are grown together. The lines between all these bones, where they are merged, are called satures.
